I want to compliment you out of the gate that you really exposed your film really well. There were only a couple shots that were underexposed and cause the grain to really come out but other than that you did great. You're film looks great and I really like your use of camera movements at the beginning to tell your story. Roger Deakins would have preferred to show that it was her birthday just like you did rather than have the actor say it in dialogue. Nice job showing, not telling. I want to compliment you out of the gate that you really exposed your film really well. There were only a couple shots that were underexposed and cause the grain to really come out but other than that you did great. Now Roger Deacons was know for having a lot of lights and darks so you could have mimicked him a bit better but it certainly looked good. You seem to have exposure down, so now really focus on story. I would have like to have seen a bit more story development with your piece.

You're film looks great and I really like your use of camera movements at the beginning to tell your story. Roger Deakins would have preferred to show that it was her birthday just like you did rather than have the actor say it in dialogue. Nice job showing, not telling. I would have liked to have seen a little more contrast in you lighting. Even though it's daytime, where can you have darks in the frame to really give more contrast. Work the story more...a little lite, work in more depth.

Young Apprentice

Your shots were well exposed but fell short of demonstrating the lighting techniques outlined in the seminar. Film is an apprentice-style craft. It's smart to pay attention to all the talented cinematographers wherever you can find it. I hope you keep on making films. I'd love to see you in Hollywood as a professional cinematographer.
