Slingshot

Two brothers battle it out over a slingshot. They chase each other around the house, hit some bullseyes and even do some karate. This film is an ode to the old Charlie Chaplin styles of film.

Fun Tone and Good Action

Fun Tone and Good Action

This is a fun little film and having an older brother, I can relate. The story was there but it wasn't super strong. Some of the editing was nicely done. The old film treatment and the sped-up footage was fun but dragged on a bit long. I think you could have pushed the contrast of the film up a bit to achieve a dar...

Old-Time Fun

Old-Time Fun

I enjoyed this project more than anything because I could tell from the characters that they had a lot of fun making it. The music and sped up footage, and scratch filter gave it an old-time feel that was clever. I think they ran around the kitchen a bit too much but it reminded me of my siblings and what it was like...

Pretty Good

I thought this film did have a lot going for it. Making a silent-era film for cinematography is a good idea, and I liked the creativity of the slingshot thing, but the execution still had room for improvement. The film would be made better maybe if you sped up the characters the whole time, instead of just the chase scene. And for the chase scene, you could add other fun things. It was just a fixed camera angle and 2 guys running around a counter.

The Silent Era

I like the idea of doing a silent film for an assignment wherein you can use any dialogue. Being that you chose that, you used the traditional piano music, you chose a physical type action which was typical, scratched film, black & white. What else could you have done? One thing I would have loved to have seen was speeding up the speed so that they look like they're running and moving at a faster speed than normal. That's how the silent films always were and that would have sold it more.

Silent films are Filled with Physical Action & Comedy

2.1 Stars

You did a good job there though I thought you missed a couple big ones that would have been in a silent film. These ideas will come out when you spend a little more time writing. One example: your characters are running in circles. Have the character being chased step out and hide behind the wall as the other one continues to run. Then have him step out and start chasing the other. The moment when he realizes he's being hunted vs doing the hunting is a classic silent film moment. Keep filming.
